Blakkr by Surly Brewing + Real Ale Brewing + Three Floyds Brewing

April 17, 2014 // 0 Comments

Collaborations are all the rage right now, and we’ve got a great one from Real Ale, Surly and Three Floyds. Known as Blakkr, this Imperial Black IPA has five different malts and three hops with English Ale yeast. It clocks in with 85 IBUs, lending a supper hop-forward presence, as well as 9.99 percent alcohol that stuffs alcohol throughout the nose and taste. This beer is billed as having flavors of black licorice and bitter sweet hop aromas of pineapple, but it also has undertones of dark chocolate and a syrup-like consistency. Much like many of the collaboration beers we’ve had, [...]

Voodoo Doughnut – Pretzel, Rasberry, and Chocolate Ale by Rogue Ales

February 12, 2014 // 0 Comments

Review by guest reviewer and indie rock critic at Onekindradio.com Xtine Bowles. OK ok ok Rogue Ales, you got me. I’ve got a vagina and I bought into this pink and cute voodoo doll label bullshit. And yes. Yes! I will save this bottle to throw some spring flowers in it and leave out as a decoration. That being said about the outside of this cute bottle, what a bunch of fucking bullshit this beer is. Did you shave some unicorn hoofs in there too? Now, don’t get me wrong. On first sip – actually on first five sips – I had high hopes. Like when you get that shitty wax [...]

Falcon Dive IPA by Lake Effect Brewing

February 11, 2014 // 0 Comments

Lake Effect Brewing Co. has got a real treat for all of you who want a pretty good hoplosion of a brew. Color is a golden/amber with about two fingers of a foamy white head and a good amount of carbonation. Falcon Dive IPA uses a good amount of Falconer’s 7C’s blend of 7 popular “C” hop varieties (Cascade, Centennial, Chinook, Citra, Cluster, Columbus, and Crystal) which gives a nose and taste of floral/citrus/grapefruit which you would expect, but there is a pretty big piny taste from that Chinook that grabs you by the balls a bit which kind of reminds me of a [...]

Anchor Brewing Releases Anchor IPA

February 5, 2014 // 0 Comments

Anchor Brewing announces the release of Anchor IPA; an adventurous new brew to join Anchor’s core lineup of distinctive, hand-crafted brews. “When we started thinking about Anchor IPA, we wanted to create a beer we would be proud to serve in our Taproom,” said Mark Carpenter, Brewmaster at Anchor Brewing.  “Right now a lot of IPAs are so hop forward that your palate can only enjoy one because of the high bitterness. Our IPA will have a strong hop flavor so you know you’re drinking an IPA. But, the combination of malts we’re using are strong enough to hold up to the bitterness, [...]

January 22, 2014 // 0 Comments

Founders Brewing is excited to announce 15-pack cans of All Day IPA will begin shipping to our distributor partners in March, replacing All Day IPA 12-pack cans without raising the suggested retail price. This is the first time a major craft brewery has put out a 15-pack. “We are able to offer 15-pack cans due to production efficiencies from packaging cost savings,” said Co-Founder Mike Stevens. “We’re excited to pass the savings on to our customers as a way of saying thank you for their reception of All Day IPA.” Developing the All Day IPA recipe was no easy task. “We [...]
